ByteDance unveils new AI image model to rival Google DeepMind's 'Nano Banana'
By Vincent Chow via South China Morning Post
ByteDance launched Seedream 4.0, an AI image generation and editing tool positioned to rival Google DeepMind’s Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (nicknamed “Nano Banana”).
The company claims Seedream 4.0 outperformed Gemini 2.5 on its internal MagicBench benchmark, excelling in prompt adherence, alignment, and aesthetics, though results were not formally published.
Priced at $30 per 1,000 generations, Seedream 4.0 integrates the text-to-image features of Seedream 3.0 with the editing capabilities of SeedEdit 3.0, marking what benchmark firm Artificial Analysis called a “significant evolution.”

ChatGPT can now integrate with Vercel MCP
Vercel
ChatGPT can now integrate with Vercel MCP, the official Model Context Protocol server, with support limited to AI clients approved by Vercel.
Connectors are available in beta for Pro and Plus accounts, requiring Developer Mode setup via ChatGPT settings.
The integration lets agents access protected deployments, analyze build logs, and connect to Vercel services securely through OAuth.
𝕏: MCP has won. It’s making its way into ChatGPT. This is amazing news for developers and the broader AI ecosystem. You can now use @vercel MCP with it. If you want to ship your own MCPs, check out - Guillermo Rauch (@rauchg)

US Investment in Spyware Is Skyrocketing
By Vas Panagiotopoulos via WIRED
The United States is now the largest investor in commercial spyware, with 31 identified backers—outpacing Israel, Italy, and the UK—despite ongoing concerns over human rights abuses.
Major US firms, including D.E. Shaw, Jane Street, and AE Industrial Partners, have funded companies like Cognyte and Paragon Solutions, both tied to surveillance controversies and contracts with ICE.
The Atlantic Council warns of a widening gap between US policy restricting spyware and US capital fueling it, with even public pension funds indirectly financing deals worth hundreds of millions.

YouTube's multi-language audio feature for dubbing videos rolls out to all creators
By Lauren Forristal via TechCrunch
YouTube has launched its multi-language audio feature for all creators after a two-year pilot, enabling dubbing in different languages to expand global reach.
Early testers like MrBeast, Mark Rober, and Jamie Oliver saw strong results, with some creators gaining over 25% of watch time from non-primary languages; Oliver’s channel tripled in views.
The platform is also testing multi-language thumbnails, allowing creators to localize text for international audiences using viewers’ preferred languages.
