Microsoft wants you to talk to your PC and let AI control it

By Tom Warren via The Verge

  • Microsoft is rewiring Windows 11 around Copilot—adding a “Hey, Copilot!” wake word, Voice as a third input, and taskbar integration—so users can talk to their PCs and get faster search across files, apps, and settings.

  • Copilot Vision (now rolling out) can, with permission, see what’s on your screen to coach you through apps, troubleshoot, explain images/docs, and even guide gameplay; Copilot Actions (limited preview) lets an AI agent perform local tasks in a secure, contained environment, while showing each step.

  • Despite optimism from Yusuf Mehdi and Navjot Virk, adoption faces trust and behavior hurdles after the Recall backlash; the push coincides with Windows 10 end-of-support and marketing to upgrade to Windows 11 AI PCs.

𝕏: This is the future of Windows. Microsoft wants to rewrite Windows to turn computers into AI PCs that you talk to. It’s now bringing AI features to all Windows 11 PCs today, in a bid to convince you to talk to your PC and let AI control it. - Tom Warren (@tomwarren)

F5 says hackers stole undisclosed BIG-IP flaws, source code

By Bill Toulas via BleepingComputer

  • F5 says nation-state attackers had long-term access to its BIG-IP development and knowledge systems; they stole undisclosed BIG-IP vulnerabilities, portions of source code, and limited customer config data. First detected Aug 9, 2025; no evidence of exploitation, disclosure, or supply-chain tampering, and platforms like NGINX and customer data systems were not compromised.

  • Remediation includes credential rotation, tighter access and network controls, hardened dev environments, and third-party reviews by NCC Group and IOActive (no injected vulnerabilities found so far), plus validation by CrowdStrike and Mandiant and rotation of product-signing certificates/keys.

  • Customers should immediately apply new updates for BIG-IP, F5OS, BIG-IP Next for Kubernetes, BIG-IQ, and APM; use the iHealth Diagnostic Tool, stream events to a SIEM, log to remote syslog, monitor login attempts, and follow NCSC/CISA guidance to keep management interfaces off the public internet.

𝕏: October 15th, 2025, F5 networks submitted SEC 8-K disclosing they had suffered a network compromise. tl;dr some source code stolen, some customer data stolen, potentially impacts usa gov national security F5 reports that they had detected a compromise through a suspected nation state Threat Actor on, or around, August 9th, 2025… - vx-underground (@vxunderground)

Apple’s Head of ChatGPT-Like AI Search Effort to Leave for Meta

By Mark Gurman via Bloomberg

  • Ke Yang, the executive leading Apple’s AI-driven web search project, is leaving the company to join Meta Platforms.

  • Yang was recently appointed head of Answers, Knowledge and Information (AKI), a team developing ChatGPT-like capabilities for Siri, including web-based information retrieval.

  • His departure marks another high-profile exit from Apple’s artificial intelligence division, raising questions about internal stability amid the company’s expanding AI ambitions.

Honor Robot Phone Concept Features A Self-Aware Camera On A Robo-Arm

By Prakhar Khanna via Forbes

  • Honor unveiled a concept Robot Phone featuring a fold-out AI-powered camera mounted on a robotic arm, designed to act as an emotional companion that can “sense, adapt, and grow” with users.

  • The concept, showcased alongside the Magic 8 series launch in China, merges multimodal intelligence, advanced robotics, and next-generation imaging, hinting at Honor’s ambitions in agentic AI.

  • Set to appear at MWC 2026, the Robot Phone is part of Honor’s Alpha Plan to transition from a smartphone maker to a broader AI company, though it remains unclear if the technology will make it to production.

Printing Money: Paxos Mints, Then Burns $300 Trillion in PayPal Stablecoins

By Andrew Hayward via Decrypt

  • Paxos accidentally minted $300 trillion in PYUSD on Ethereum, then burned the tokens ~20 minutes later; the transaction cost $2.66 in fees, and Paxos called it an internal technical error with no breach and customer funds safe.

  • The sum dwarfed macro benchmarks (>2.5× world GDP; only $2.4T physical USD exists) and followed routine 300 million PYUSD ops, reinforcing a likely fat-finger/decimal mistake.

  • Scrutiny rose as Paxos pursues an OCC national trust charter under the GENIUS Act; Amanda Fischer urged caution while Martin Köppelmann and others flagged controls, amid widespread community jokes and concern.

𝕏: It’s not the dollar amount you should be thinking about. It’s the fact that this is a collateralized asset that can be created without the collateral. - VBL’s Ghost (@Sorenthek)
